Curry Powder

Curry powder adds a vibrant yellow color and complex flavor to dishes, with earthy, aromatic, and sometimes spicy notes. It is commonly used in curries, stews, soups, rice dishes, and marinades, lending them a distinctively exotic and savory taste. Curry powder allows for easy seasoning and offers a convenient way to add depth and richness to a wide range of culinary creations.

Equipment

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Spice Jar

Ingredients

  • 14 gram ground coriander
  • 14 gram ground cumin
  • 10 gram ground turmeric
  • 5.6 gram ground ginger
  • 2 gram dry mustard
  • 3.2 gram ground cinnamon
  • 2.8 gram ground black pepper
  • 1.4 gram ground cardamom
  • 1.4 gram cayenne pepper or ground chilies

Instructions

  • Weigh all spices into a bowl, blend well, and put into a spice jar. We use mason jars to keep our spices as fresh as possible. Curry spice is delicate because it is all ground, it will last about 3-6 months from grinding. It never lasts that long within our home.

Notes

There are lots of versions of curry and curry powder available. This happens to be the one we like for our curries.
